I am very fascinated with corals. I don't have any in my tank. I've had it up or about 2 months now. When is the right time to get corals. How do you take care of them? Since I have a metal hallide light what corals am I able to get and not get?

how many watts is your lights? you could start out with lps and mushrooms. not sure when you can add them, but i think you can start adding them after a couple of months when you tank is stable.
you also need to check levels of calcium.

Well 2 months shouldn't be enough yet. What are your current tank levels? Since you have MH, you should be fine with just about any corals. How many watts is the Mh you are using? For starter corals, get some mushrooms, button polyps, and star polyps.

Once your water parameters are stable and how they should be, you can slowly start adding livestock.

If the MH are over your 20g, then you are likely able to keep softies,LPS, and some SPS.

I have a 24gal Aquapod with MH (150watt) 14K and my Birdsnest is actually adding branches! I have had the coral frag for about month and half maybe longer. Feed it twice a week and it is happier than....than....an octopus?.....no wait...a ham sandwich?....ahhh....I like fish they are funny....LOL

My MH is 150 watts. My testings are Nitrite=0, pH=8.5, Phosphate= 0.25 or 0.5 (couldnt really tell), Ammonia= 0 or 0.1 (couldnt really tell), Nitrate=0 or 5 (again). Is it possible for me to get corals?
