Corky Finger corals?

i have a corky sea finger and yes they will cover anything they are on. Mine started out about 2 inches a year ago and now it is 16in or better and i have fraged it several times. About toxins i am not sure but i havent had any trouble with mine it is a beautiful coral and i really enjoy it. hope this helps

Drummer, is that encrusting gorgonian I see in your gallery? I was thinking of getting some for our tank but heard it's extremely fast growing and invasive.

Yikes!! LOL, I actually thought they were "finger" shaped! :) That's another one I had planned for our tank. Not sure now.

BTW, you're right. It is beautiful! :)

lossman,

It is shaped like a finger some what when it is closed mine has totaly grown over the rock i put it on. they are really nice corals. also they are easly fraged so you can keep it under controll but i just let mine grow.

Can I ask how you frag it? We went to the Florida Aquarium to look at their Caribbean tanks to get an idea of the type of corals we would like to put in our tank (we are attempting a Caribbean reef biotope). We talked with the coral guys there and they discouraged us from getting the encrusting gorgonian because it grew so fast and was too invasive for a home aquarium, in their opinion. They did show us that they just peeled the gorgonian off the rock, cut off what they wanted and wrapped it around another rock until it hung on. That was how they fragged the encrusting type. Just curious about the corky finger. This will probably be the next thing we put in the tank. :)

yea i do it the same way. i just cut it or peel it and then attach it to another rock. really easy, i dont normally like to frag corals much but this one is really easy.
