Looks like we will be heading down to Costa Rica this summer, specifically the Manuel Antonio area. Has anyone been there? Any recommendations? I'm looking for somewhere good to dive, surf, and drink. That's all I care to do for a solid week.

Thanks

Ive been around that area, personally i like the beaches more north like jaco. As far as diving, there are a few decent spots here and there but not much. Drinking you can do plenty of lol

My recommendation is:

If you are planing go on September the Caribbean zone will be the best option. Specifically Puerto Viejo, Manzanillo, Cahuita, Punta Uva, etc

+1 the caribbean is a bit more diverse in my opinion, and a better place to dive. Although you can see really cool sea horses in the Pacific more often

Costa

I have lived in costa rica 7 years just moving back to florida. I know its illegal to touch anything under water though they really dont have any means of stopping you. I had a 55 gallon that i built when i finished the tank i went to buy fish??? Where? So i found a guy who sells marine fish and some coral out of his house. EVERYTHING is imported from the US and the cost is crazy yellow tang almost 80 dollars. I would put more money that the carib side is nicer for fish. Be careful some of the pacific beaches have Really strong rip tides belive me i know. Floating on my back for 20 mins hoping the current would push me back in not fun. Oh and the sometimes you have crocodile at the beach.
