Costs of massive tanks?

Cost is a relative term. This is a hobby and you should not sacrifice needed money on this hobby. Anything you spend on the tank should be after the "bills" are paid - mortgage, savings, retirement, college tuition for the kids, etc etc.

Dont blow your future on the tank. Fund the tank after the future has been secured.

or you could do what i did: rob a bank, make the wife pay the mortgage, and the kids pay their own college tuition if the brats even get in!!!

my final costing looks to be around 7000 for tank(400 gal), stand, sump, canopy, lighting, protein skimmer, pump, rock, plumbing, salt, prodibio, xyre 150.

In fairness that's in Canadian dollars for built from the ground up in my apartment. A lot of peripherals I already own so no additional outlay...

I feel like I'm setting money on fire the last few months and I haven't even bought a single fish, coral or invert...

I'll be close to six figures and the tank is an "off budget" item in my house build. I stopped counting a while ago.

I sort of feel the same but I took on a sideline job that's paying me insanely well given the work involved...and almost the whole amout is payin for my tank)...otherwise I couldn't even consider this

It's even worse when you're business is in this hobby...

I'd say the majority of Coral Imports profit has been dumped back into our tanks lol
