Couple shots at a LFS

Keep in mind this was all no tripod, no flash and the aquarium pumps were going full bore. I was just there taking some pictures, I didnt really have it planned, so the water definitely has some sediment kicking around, but all and all it turned out pretty good I think for my first real reef picture taking opportunity.

First off, see if you can find the photographer in this first picture? :) I was getting some bad glare off this tank, I can just imagine if I was using a flash.

Those look great. Is that the LFS owner's hand or did you sneak into their tank when nobody was looking? hahahah

That yellow tank looks a little hungry.

I am pleased to see that most (if not all) of your shots are wide open @ f/2.8, so the powers it grants are obviously not lost on you. You are also in full manual mode which makes me happy.

Oh, I was setting up a web page for them. I came by a day early to get some shots just to see what I was up against, before the day I had planned to get some shots and was planning on bringing my tripod for, so this was all just impromptu and figuring I should see what I was up against. I ended up doing so well I only went back the next day to get a couple more pictures to fill out the web page.

http://www.alaskacoralmaniacs.com btw, thats the site I just finished building, they are happy with it.

And yes, that is the owner's hand ;)

I was just happy they came out so nice and clear without a tripod or a flash, I had expected some pretty blurry images. Granted, about half of the images were just a little blurry, but I probably got a good 50% useable images and used about 10% of those on the web site.

Looks good. I think some of my $$ in that store (lol). Nice work on the site.

Yeah, so...

My LFS is petco what what... (mail order is genius)

Looks like a really nice store.

Great shots, the tang does look thin.... but come on, how many fish at any LFS are fat and happy? I know none around me are...

what camera and lens were you using?
It's a Canon 50D with the f2.8 24-70mm lens.

Yes, the tang looks a little skinny, but he's going to Hawaii soon so he's been on a diet.

It's a neat store, we had nothing like it in Anchorage. These guys are really devoted to mainly saltwater and mainly corals. There is a FW side and a SW fish side of the store, but you can tell it really centers around corals.

You can go to http://www.alaskacoralmaniacs.com to see more about it.
