Coverage for XR15 and XR30

Asked this on the website contact form but I thought I'd also post here for the benefit of others...

I'm trying to decide on a fixture to cover my 93 gallon rimless cube, dimensions are 30x30x24h. I can't possibly see how the radion xr30 pro can cover 30x30; first of all, it has two offset clusters, which indicates that the coverage should be a rectangle rather than a square. Second, the xr15 (with only one cluster) claims only 24x24, which translates to a coverage on the xr30 of maybe 30x24 ( or a little less than 30, because there isn't quite 6" between the two clusters). And thirdly, the claim of 24x24 on the xr15 is with the wide angle lenses, while the xr30 claims a wider coverage with narrower lenses! So please, help me to understand the reasoning behind the claims of coverage on these fixtures, and in specific please answer this question: would I not be able to get 30x30 coverage with the xr15, if the light is the appropriate height above the water, with a wide or narrow angle lens? Thanks!

Personally, I'd recommend a single XR30wG3-Pro for your 93G cube with the Wide-Angle lenses installed, with the light 10-14" off the water surface.

Some Acroporas and other SPS prefer tons of light (PAR) while others do not, so it's difficult to generalize. I would recommend using the Acclimation feature for your livestock and adjust as necessary.

So on the same topic, my tank is 48x24x30 high.
Could I get away with 2 xr15's and still have good par to the bottom?
Thanks.

What are you planning to keep? For sps, no. I've been running two XR15 Pros on my 40 x 24 x 22h for just over two years. I ran them at 85% max. Did they color up and grow sps, yes. But colors were lacking and growth VERY slow. I would recommend two XR30 Pros for a 48" tank if you're looking to keep sps. XR15s would be fine for softies and easy sps like birdsnest and montis.

It's a mixed Reef, softies, Lps, and a few sps.
Right now I'm using my DIY led fixtures. Just getting tired of tinkering with wires and replacing components.
I have all the sps pieces positioned in the top 3rd of the rock work, with Lps etc near the bottom. Not planning on keeping a clam again. Been there done that.
I think I may try the xr 15's, worst case I'll upgrade later. At least there will be resale value.
Thanks guys!
