Ok, this comes up every now and then. First thing is you should do a search on RC for clown tang and you will find many many many posts backing this up.

They need a huge tank, like 10ft long at least, with a good few feet front to back. They are fast and never ever stop. They also get to be a pretty decent size. They are one of the most aggressive tangs, and are not happy with new tank mates. 6-7 months is not long enough to call yourself and expert. You may have the book knowledge, but its the hands on knowledge and observational skills that really set apart the experienced aquarist.

But first, do a search, there is tons of reading on this subject in the reef fish forum.

i wasnt implying i was an expert, just stating how long ive been in this hobby. wel i dont have a tank that big so i guess its a no go on this one

I didn't mean to talk down to you at all either and Im sorry if it came across like that, I just meant to say that it takes lots of hands on experience to really be able to observe a difficult fish and determine what it needs and why its not doing well.

they can be difficult and grow to get huge. I rescued one from a 30 gallon tank that is about 2-3 inches long and he is doing incredibly well in my 120, but that is the bare minimum I would put him in and as soon as he gets healthy, which he is getting close to, I will be relocating him to a larger tank.

5 foot tank minimum for a juvinile, and they grow fast, so really a 6-8 foot tank should really be the minimum one should consider these for
