Planning a golf/scuba trip next month. Anybody have any thoughts re the Melia vs Playa Azul

Both of those resorts are north of downtown Cozumel, which means you will have to take a taxi into town to meet the boat or use the on site dive OP. BUT the shore diving from the Melia is good, all the way down to the Coral Princess and beyond. The current can be an issue so pay attention, I don't think the taxis really like picking up soaking wet divers.
The Melia has an issue with their beach area sometimes being murky since the hotel next door put in a huge pier that blocks the water flow, all you have to do is walk a little ways to get in the water.
Take lots of bug dope for the golf course, and watch out for the crocodiles. It's a fun course, and to be fair we were there right after the rainy season so there may have been more bugs. Also look at tripadvisor.com for more info and photos regarding these resorts.
