CPR overflow

I used one for over a year without problem. Only thing I had to make sure of was that the air line that hooked overflow to airlifter pump stayed clean. Mine was near the lights and would get algae growth. So I replaced with black airline and had no more problems. Never had any flood problems.

I've had one running on my setup for almost 8 years now, no issues with flooding. I turn my return pump off daily for feeding and the overflow has no problem starting up.

I've got my overflow connected to the venturi of a Maxijet 1200 powerhead to remove any accumulated bubbles and to start the siphon in the event that it is lost. IMO, I've found that these overflows work better when you push as much water thru them as they're designed for.

Yes they do, when the flow is very high thru the overflow, there is no build up of bubbles in the top that can end up breaking siphon. What I really like abut them is the low profile for the amount of flow. Mine are barely visible now that they are covered in coraline.

And yes BsMom, I have several of the aqualifter pumps and actually about a dozen prefilters for them. SO when I change them out, I don't have to drop everything and clean them and reinstall them. I put clean pumps and prefilters on, and then clean the take outs at my leisure.

And yes, black airline tubing is very important also. With clear tubing it doesn't take long at all for algae growth to stop the flow thru the aqualifter pump.

Next to drilling for an external overflow or low profile Calfo style overflow, these are my favorites.
