Crab ID

[Monsta]

I found this guy in my biocube 8 on top of the filter media above my diy fuge. I have no idea how it got there. Its dark-spotted gray color and clumped up almost like a ball. At first I thought its a small rock; i picked it up and it pinched me. My camera is out of order so i had to use my web-cam. Any idea if its reef safe? (Its already back in my tank :eek1: )

Most crabs of that shape are considered undesirable because they eventually can grow big enough to catch and eat fish.

Without seeing the legs extended, it's hard to tell what species you have.

If you have a sump, I suggest putting it there and feeding it. It could be a good scavenger for you.

If you don't want to keep it, let people know. I'm sure someone else will want it. Crabs are neat creatures.
