Crabs & snails

My tank was recently cycled (up for 3 1/2 weeks)and 200 lbs of live rock cured ammonia levels are 0, nitrites are .015 and nitrates are 12. There is some diatom action and very small areas of hair algae. I want to go buy some blue leg hermit crabs and turbo snails to help eat some of the algae. Can they withstand the levels of nitrite? Thanks

i wouldn't chance it, they prob. would be ok but why put them though it. let the cycle finish and wait 1 week after to make sure it has finished then add the clean up crew

I'd wait until nitrites are at zero. It won't really help to get them in earlier, and you risk killing them.

Diatom blooms usually go when they're ready, although a clean up crew can help a little bit.
