crack in my return hose

Can I fix this temporarily with something until I can get a new hose or do I need to get a new hose? I bought a used system from a local reefer and he came over and set it up. I was gonna go through it with him on Sunday so I know how to troubleshoot this stuff. So I am pretty noobish when it comes to sumps, return hoses etc.

So can I do something to fix this now or do I need to run out and get a new hose. What kind of hose do I need to get? Everything is currently turned off Luckily no fish are in the tank or anything else for that matter but I don't want to have no movement in the tank for a long period of time.

Also if I need to run to a hardware store I have to do it super quick since they close soon. So quick advice would be appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance.

Cant really tell . But when it comes to water .A Small leak can cost a lot of repair money.. a BIG Leak a lot more. Almost all small leaks end up big sooner then you think..
So i would say GO Get a new hose. even thou i can not tell much from that image..
I Would get braided / Black in color hose if you can. and clamps....

Can I get all this at Home Depot now?

Ok real stupid question. But now that the tank is off and the water is not draining anymore I can pull that off correct?

need a new pvc piece is the flex hose glued on or hose clamped. If glued in you and you got some play in the line you may be able to cut it right at the joint and just glue it back in. If in doubt get some flexhose as well.

you should be able to get the stuff at depot. If you can isolate from your sump and if I remember right you got loc line at the end of the return. lift it up out of the water. you will still have what is left in the line.

So they did not have have what I needed. Guy suggested this leak tight tape. Wasn't buying it but what other choice did I have. I actually had him wrap it for me. Got home and tried it. No good. Slowed the leak but still leaking. I did think of a decent temporary work around. I changed that side of the hose with the other side. Took the cover off my sump and now the leak is going into the sump. It's only a drop at a time into the sump. I'll pick up a new hose tomorrow and replace it.

I was going to say if the crack is small just throw some pvc cement over it like christys red hot blue glue until you get a new one...maybe you have some laying around? Worth a try...doesn't have to be glued to something...It'll bond the crack together until you replace it tomorrow?

I bet the crack could be fixed but since this tank is in my living room I will buy a real flex hose like the one that's on there already. Right now I have it slow dripping into the sump. The drip is in the exact same spot for the last 20 minutes so I'm confident it won't change in 24 hours. I think about 12 ounces of water spilled on the floor and that's more than Id like. Can't imagine trying something that doesn't end up working. The tape is helping. The water was pouring out inconsistently. At least I have it dripping now.

No idea. I was setting up my mp10's and I put the cord through the back of the tank and felt water dripping. I did not touch any of the plumping so maybe it was jammed in too tight? Doesn't make much sense to me. Could have been like that awhile just draining right back into the sump. Once I realized there was a leak and started moving it the floodgates opened. Lol
