Cracked suction plate on motor

Newbie here, although I have lurked and planned for many months.. with brand new tank setup delivered today..I have found as I take inventory that the suction cup plate that attaches to the protein skimmer pump with rubber links is cracked in a number of places and clearly won't last long.this will be under my tank in the stand in my Reefmaster 150 refugium of my new 90 gal tank...my question is, do I just ignore it and go without this or will it be too loud? I suppose I could set it on a foam pad of some kind...I am concerned as the tank is on a tile floor in my family room so there is no carpet to absorb the noise..downside is that it will set back the program for a couple of weeks untill I could get a replacement in the mail..thanks for any info, Mike

Well you dont ever want broken equipment from the get go, and you can cure your live rock without a skimmer, maybe even should. but truth be told the suction cups arnt gonn alast but a few weeks anyway. you will end up with some type a sand bottom, or plastic or foam or some type or filter floss or some such item anyway. but the suction cups wont hold up for long, so as long as there is no mechanical damage i guess i would let it go. I would be more worried that i bought a cheap/old skimmer.

edit--just noticed you are from Michigan, in that case, first get some dish soap and fill the pump with it, put the pump in the sump, dump a couple of cups of gasoline in there, if your wife or yourself has any type of hand lotion a bit of that will be good too. Then if you have a pool, put some of those chemicals in there too. this will give a you noiseless system. Make sure all your live rock and critters are in there first! :c).
