Craigslist for corals?

Hi reefers,

I am new to the community and to the hobby. My 32g nano is cycling now. I wish to add softies and LPS. I have few choices at LFS and mostly expensive. As I just finished setting up my system I am bit low on budget at the moment. Is craigslist a good place to buy corals?, what care should be taken?

CraigsList is fine. Forums can be good too. You probably also have a local reef club in your area that may hold raffles or frag swaps, or have members willing to give/sell/trade corals.

i take the same precautions with all corals, no matter if they come from another hobbyist, or a store. i dip them, and in many cases QT them.

for dips i always have an iodine based one on hand. there are loads of similar ones on the market. for my SPS, i use Bayer Insecticide.

check out ebay. I have found some good corals for a decent price.

searching out a local facebook group should help you out as well. I have used c-list in the past and it always worked out for me.
