Crazing in skimmer collection cup???

Hi does anyone know what would cause crazing in a Protein skimmer collection cup. I have a JNS CO-2 skimmer and there is a lot of crazing in the skimmer cup.

Odd... No idea. I was familiar with the term crazing but having a hard time imagining it with a a skimmer cup under normal circumstances.

Still thinking about this... Any crazing in the skimmer body or on any other acrylic items in the tank?

Have you used any type of cleaning products on it in the past?
That can cause that..

IF not its just excessive stresses.. It can happen..
I think I've see a couple people post about it.. Not sure if it was that specific skimmer model or not..
Its not much to worry about and shouldn't get much worse..

These are pictures after trying to clean it all night. I actually bought this used from someone on Reef Central and they were not honest about the collection cup issue. I am not too happy

I haven't even used the skimmer yet, I just bought it from micielo719 in the forum on Reef Central. I have been trying to reach him but now he isn't responding of course.

He must of did something to make it stain and craze in such a manner

I had an older Reef Octo skimmer that did the same thing. Regular cleaning and use and over a period of a few months and it crazed on the main body. I wouldn't be overly concerned unless it actually cracks and leaks. Perhaps contact the company and see what they say or suggest. My guess it is due to the acrylic they use and conditions it is placed in.

Well the seller agreed to give me $70 to buy a replacement collection cup. Aquamaxx uses the same as JNS, so I will just buy a new one from Marine Depot and feel better about it.

My skimmer cup did the same thing years ago....still using it, just can't see through it very well. It's an old SWC 250 skimmer.
