Hello. I've just added a bubble tip anemone to my tank. Probably more like saterday. So it's been a few days. For the first couple of days it just hung out on the rock it came with. Then yesterday it took a stroll around the reef. At this point it still looked good. But suddenly tonite it has crawled under a rock and is just sitting there. small and frightened. Is this normal. I know it will move around untill its happy. Maybe it needs a another day..... Any info ???

Give it some time, it's trying to adjust. It needs to get used to your water parameters, lighting, etc. Mine did the same thing when I switched from pc's to mh's. Just keep an eye on it because if it dies you will have water quality issues very quickly. Mine eventually buried itself in the sand and began withering away.

I agree - give it some time. Anemones need to adjust to water quality, temperature, lighting, flow. It will move to a low flow area to adjust to water quality temp - it does this by expelling it's internal water and taking in your water a few times to balance itself out.

Then it will move around until it finds just enough light.

Then it will move again to find just the right flow.

Will probably move 1 more time just to drive you nuts.

Then it wil settle down and make a home.

I think you nailed it cdangel0!!! Tonight it looks better and it's moving to higher ground. should I clear an area out? It might run into a frogspawn....

I have one of mine that planted inself in the middle of a mushroom patch. First day the mushrooms were closed up and all hiding. But after a few days they are open again and although they are not as huge as they were they seem to be doing fine.
