Creepy things came out of coral, man

I brought a soft coral (idk what it was. It was like a polyps thingy) and I coral dipped it and I saw something in it so I grabbed it with some tweezers and no joke it was this HUGE RED WORM WITH TENTICLES fml! And I was having a fricken panic attack, man I had fricken nightmares for days! And just I was looking at the tank and I decided I didn't like this hell spawn where it was so i pick it up (whereing gloves tho I don't trust this thing) and i move it and all this string comes out and i was thinking it was hairs or somethin' so I try to grab it and something falls out of it so it grab it and as the tweezers squeeze it all the fish poop in the world explodes out fml and i got it out the tank and it was a flippen coralised pile of poo. So now I'm in a dark corner of the room rocking back and fourth, crying and singing lullabies to myself wondering why we even bother. They should put this stuff on the flipping labels : "likes moderate light, moderate water flow and also doubles as a portal to the underworld"
"What?"
"Yeah it your not careful Satan himself will appear form the coral and sneak into your room and steal your soul while you sleep. happy fishing"
Can you explain what I just witnessed and maybe share your coral horror stories?
Mean while I'm just gonna book a lifetime of counselling Brb.

Likely bristleworm, they're very common. I've never had an issue with them. How are your corals looking? Anything seem to be bothering them?

It was a spaghetti worm and I saw another one about a week ago so it went for like it's 10 dip at 3× and dose that should kill the bloody coral! And I put it in the QT tank (in there currently is 2 hermit crabs, 1 porcelain crab and 1 mandarin who is currently recovering from being starved at his previous home). The coral was still alive, the feather duster was alive, The damn spaghetti was alive! I picked out 1 bristle worm and my mandarin JUST TRIED TO EAT ONE! He had picked it out of the coral! It got stuck to him and I can SEE the spikes in his mouth! He was so scared and he his was fitting around scrapping his mouth across the rocks and now refuses to eat anything he is constantly flexing his mouth. He tried to eat a brine shrimp, spat it out, and the shook his head for a few minutes. He will starve now won't he? Is there anything I can do for him?

Update: I Googled it and it was a "Fireworm" does this make a difference do that have a more potent sting?

Update: he just ate some frozen brine shrimp he appeared to be in agony whilst he was doing so but at least he can still eat

If it's a bristle worm they reproduce quite quickly. Never have been favorites of mine.

I think the most frightening thing I ever saw was when I ordered a box of corals from Fiji. Zoanthids and mushrooms. When I opened the bags to take the corals out and dip them before going into a tank to cure (yes, fresh off the boat coral rocks will need to cure as they have a lot of dead stuff on them) they were covered in a myriad of worms. Bristle worms, fire worms, bobbit worms, worms I have no name for. All VERY much alive and quite a few 12-18 inches long. Yes, I measured them, that is not an exaggeration. I have never, ever, ever seen so many worms come out of a coral. When the rocks were done curing (about 2 weeks later) and I broke apart the pieces so I could begin putting them into the display, once again, the actual rocks were absolutely FILLED with worms. So they all got another dip, and a good four months or so in QT while I hand removed mushroom and zoanthids from the rocks and attached them to plugs and clean rocks. The offending rocks were left in the curing tank and the malunarus got to eat his fill. The remaining shrooms and does have gone on to spread over the bottom of the tank.
