Hey everyone,

I'm in the middle of putting together a 180g display tank and the sump will be a 125g in the basement. I'll be running a Octopus external skimmer, and the return pump will be a Reeflo Barracuda. I think I've got all the basics covered, but would like to hear what everyone has to say. If there is anything I missed or think I should have included, please do throw it out there. I would rather build this once rather than want to change it in 6 months.

Now keep in mind the height of the baffles may change, and I can include them in the drawing if that would help. I haven't calculated the "open" volume in the sump and how much water I need to plan for in case of a pump or power failure.

Thanks for the time and I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

A little detail on the compartments.

From left to right

Return from tank 10" wide
Skimmer Return 10" wide
DSB/Rock 26" wide
Fuge 10" wide
Return Pump is 12" wide - mainly for volume

I'm following along... I actually am looking into designing a sump and came up with a very similar design.

So I finally sat down and figured it out, it should hold about a extra 50 gallons of water in case of a overflow. That leaves me a very safe margain as I could drain the top 6 inches of water out of my DT before I would get into trouble.

I'm hoping to get more feedback here, so plz...let's hear it good or bad.
