crocea behavior

hello folks- searching through 10 pages of posts, I haven't seen this question- My t. crocea exhibits a pattern of opening nicely from the time the halides come on in the morning (6:40 or so) until about 2:30, 3:00 in the afternoon, when it begins to recede somewhat in its shell- not entirely, and not in a pinched-off fashion. It recedes a bit more until the lights go out bout 5:40.

Is this normal? Is it a sign of some kind of stress? I'm thinking the halides may need changed- they're just at a year old- the clam is roughly 15" from the lamps. I've had it nearly three weeks; it started this behavior several days after I placed it in the tank.

(sorry for the crummy photo, but it shows the crocea's extension for most of the day.)

-Thanks-

i think it just has to do with teh phot period, mine do the same thing, they are fully extended in the middle of the day and less in the evening even with the halides on.
