Crosshatch Trigger Pair?

Juice It

I have read tons of references of people wanting or liking crosshatch triggers but most specify "pairs". What do Crosshatches do together that makes people want a pair? When people talk about other triggers I never see "pair" mentioned.

Certain male/female triggers will pair up. This allows you to keep more than one in a tank.

Cross Hatch, Blue Jaw and Sargassum triggers seem to be the most popular for this. I'm assuming because of their naturally docile temperament.

What do they do? Not much. Just swim around together and maybe spawn down the line, but its always nice to have a pair rather than just a single specimen if your system will allow it.

So basically they will swim and stay together where as say two Nigers or Clown triggers even if opposite sex will stay apart and possibly fight?

Yes, triggers are also very friendly and smart. So two smart triggers playing together and interacting with the owner is better than one.

And there is a slight difference between a male and female crosshatch, males have red tails and are more vibrant in color IMO. It is also much more interesting to see them in pairs than singles. And hey it gives a guy a shoot at true love lol... how would you feel if you were all alone and your friends are aliens?

I think that's because those are the ones with sexually different females. (Forget the term)

IME, they're not really 'pairs.' They will get along slightly better then two different triggers, but they set won't act like say a pair of clownfish. In larger tanks, they seem to get along better (obvious reasons).
