Crosshatch Trigger Questions???

So I've been considering getting a pair of Crosshatch triggers for my 240 and I heard that one of the LFS around my area had a pair in stock. I went to go look at them this morning but it just looked like a pair of white triggers with two different colored tails. The guy said that he had them for about 4 months so I couldn't imagine that it would still take that long to color up. They are also aproximately 5-6" in length. For those of you that have either owned them or seen them elsewhere shouldn't they already be colored up quite a bit by this size? I started to research out some other photos and I have a feeling these might be a hybrid trigger instead but wanted to get some opinions from others in the hobby before I decided if it's worth the money for the fish. He said they would color up but I want to see what others thought as well.

Thanks!

it should have color, so either another fish or its sick ....

how much is he asking for ?

is this the same LFS that had a 2 foot shark in a 90G for 2 years ?

PS. if you did medicate your TANK as you said in your shark quest, then your tank needs to cycle again.

good luck :)

Was the underlying pattern like that of a crosshatch, but without the yellow coloration?

How much were they?

Did they look like this?

Or like this?

It sounds like you are describing the 2nd photo, which is a Kiri Triggerfish, and is even more rare than Crosshatchs and generally twice as expensive.

Much more like the 2nd photo but still not a colorful. I should have taken a picture of them. He was asking $500 for the pair.

Asking $500 for the pair. Have no idea which LFS you are talking about with the 90 gallon tank but I couldn't imagine it there. And I used Prazipro. Why would I need to recycle the tank? I've done two water changes on the tank since I dosed?

Where are you located/this LFS?

If it isn't either one of those, but looks like them sort of, then they are most likely sick. And they sound too cheap to be the Kiri, and sort of too cheap in a LFS to be Crosshatchs.

The fins were yellow trimmed and the "trigger" was red. I've seen that there are hybrids of these so maybe that's what it is?

I think I got it,

I bet they are a Sargassum Pair.

Those look closer to what it looked like but still a bit different. Damn I really should have taken some pictures. But i guess either way it doesn't sound like Crosshatch Triggers are that light no matter what age they are correct? Like I said before these ones were 5-6" so I figured they should have all their color or at least a substantial amount of color already.

Yellow trim on the both top and bottom fins and no black dots on the top of the body and this is the closest I could find. This one states it's a hybrid crosshatch based on where I got the photo from.

Ha, thats the same fish, the Kiri that I posted above. The one I have a picture of is on sale for 700 for 1, so I doubt ur LFS is selling 2 for 500.

Those are crosshatches i think the lack of color is due to the small tank btw did you see the queen trigger

I did see the queen. I'm still going to do some corals and really don't want it to nip at everything since I don't have colonies like the ones at Upscales...LOL

Never been there but really nice place.
