crushed coral in sump for CA

does adding crushed coral to the sump help maintain CA levels, or does it only work in a CA reactor.

Not anymore than having LR in the tank or LS on the bottom. Your not going to see any benfit. In a reactor, you lower the pH by adding CO2 which causes the calcium carbonate to dissolve.

okay, so will it provide a buffer by disolving when the PH drops.

If the ph drops that low your tank will be dead already.
