? "Crust" in my water mix container.

A few months back I bought an RO/DI unit (Typhoon 3) and started making my own salt water for water changes. The 5 gallon jug that I use has slowly built up a manilla colored crust on the inside. Is this normal? I use reef crystals salt. I just want to make sure that I did not have a bad powerhead leaking in there.

This has been observed with Reef Crystals lately. There was a long thread in CMAS - Chicago Reef Club forum about it recently. They were sending samples in to the manufacturer. The good news is that no one has experienced any bad effects from it that they know of. I have also experienced this with RC.

Yea I have not noticed any adverse affects and it smells OK. Just wanted a little reassurance!

I have the same thing developing my mixing container as well. Ive been using regualr IO. I havent noticed any downfalls from it.
