I purchased the cystal reef sand over a year ago its snow white and the company claims its 100% aragonite but others swear it cant be cause its too white and its most likely dolomite ... The company says its pure white because its mined from places not submerged in water( atleast that's what I think they were saying ) and that the other aragonite sand isn't pure white because its collected from the bottom of the ocean and that aragonite is in fact snow white. I guess looking at dry rock ive got some pretty white rock and its mostly aragonite..Anyways the sand has been doing great in the aquarium and the snails have no problems going under and threw it and my water parameters are always great. Just want everyones take on this and if they think its real aragonite or not and if anyone else here uses it...thanks

As I recall pure aragonite is white, but it seldom gets that way in nature. Maybe in some shells it will be white? Opposite end of the color spectrum is onyx. Dolomite is chemically different.
