Does anyone have any ideas on how long inverts can survive in transit.is a week or more out of the question for snails or hermit crabs?

I once forgot a hermit crab in a bucket for a week in an upstairs apartment that was 90-100 degrees everyday that week...
He was just hanging out, picking at some alage.
