cupramine and bicolor angel?

Hello all. I have a new bicolor angel in quarantine that I bought Sunday. After he relaxes a while I wanted to know if cupramine is safe to treat as a preventative measure. I have read mixed reviews on this. Does anyone have any advice on this?? Thanks again.

If it's not showing any signs of anything, it might be considered an unnecessary stress..
Best to keep them a little while in quarantine and then decide.

Actually I am watching him now and he looks like he's flashing against the bare bottom of the tank. I usually give a week to chill then a week of prazipro then treat with copper as preventative measures. I'll watch him a few days and see if he's scratching. I was wondering if copper is the way to go with this guy?

I have a Longnose in the QT right now, and I did some reading about using Cupramine on Butterfly. For sensitive fish like Butterfly, bring the concentration of cupramine to .3mg/L. A little over half of the full recommended dose of .5mg/L. Do it slowly and watch of adverse reaction. Keep it at that level for 2 weeks.

This is what I am intending to do next week. I didn't try it yet, so take my advice at your own risk.

If you are concerned about ich, TTM is less stressful. Especially for bicolor angels, who will go on hunger strikes when stressed. It's more important to get it eating.

Ok thanks. He's eating everything I give him. Mysis shrimp, pellets etc. I may lean towards hypo salinity however this doesn't get rid of velvet does it?

Angels are sensitive to Cooper. I would not suggest using it on angels. CP will get rid of velvet, hypo-salinity is not guarantee to get rid of ich. If not at 1.009 even a day, it is not effect. The best method for ich was mentioned earlier which is the TTM.
