I just bought 50LBS of Fiji Live Rock. How do I cure it in a rubber maid bucket. Also how long do I need to cure it for. Would it be easier to put it in my tank. I dont have a skimmer yet.

Mix enough water to cover your rock (salinity)
drop in powerhead (I use at least 2 powerheads with one at the bottom of the bucket with a hose attached. I attach the hose to the top of the bucket spraying down on the rock) drop in rock
keep tabs on water quality and change water accordingly. I prefer to keep ammonia levels at or below .20 although you will likely see higher for a short period if the rock is uncured.

I like the rubbermaid system as it also keeps a lot of debris from ever getting into display in the first place.

I cured my rock in the tank. It is fairly easy to keep clean as long as you dont have any sand in there yet. For me, it was a little easier putting it in the tank, as I could see the rock better while cleaning it.. but both way work just as well in the end, IMO.
