Custom 225 5x3x2 overflow/lighting questions

I just got a new to me used tank hehe and I'm wondering about the over flow box. It has a glass already there and a acrylic black cover but the cover isn't siliconed to the glass do I need to seal around the black over acrylic or leave it loose for cleaning for long term? Will post pics of what it looks like.

Also I been looking at the photon 42" v2 or orig will they work with a 5' by 3' should I add another to it for sps but maybe mixed I havnt fully committed yet on what type of reef I will make as I'm relearning all the different types as I have read on them for years here. But it's time to get my feet wet. Also for the price of the photon is there a better option I should consider. I enjoy the led functions of having it ramp up and down threw the day.

This is the line I was thinking to silicone around the edges to make the water flow threw the cut outs and not around the sides was my concern.

I'm still thing if I should or should not add the silicon to seal the blake cover. bump

My tank was built the same. Sealed mine completely. All three outside edges, and also the inside lip of the actual glass overflow. Then crap can't get between it.

Thanks that was my plans but while I was about to do it I said it's better to be safe than sorry hehe ask to see if it's the best thing to do. Before I have to cut it out to clean. That's my plans for tomar then get that done and move on to my next part of my long wait to have a fish in it hehe. Thanks a lot
