We added some new livestock recently, which prompted the removal of some of the existing fish, case in point the 6-line that will be taking up residence in an elementary school aquarium shortly
.
We bought this a little over a month ago and used it to trap out the 6-line :

It worked reasonably well (will be available for sale in another thread yet to be posted). But we wanted more flexibility and options, so I set about doing some research and came across this excellent thread :

and set about to building a trap based on that design. Since one of the critters we wanted to trap out was a set of engineer gobies (pictured being trapped a couple of posts below the one I pasted) the trap seemed perfect. The feed tube makes it great for adding more food to the back of the trap. Plus, with the 1/2" clear PVC that I had left over from another project, it is even better, as the fish can see the food travelling down into the trap and it entices them even further.
Here is the finished trap in the tank :
Here the wife is anxiously waiting for the next unsuspecting fish
.
Here is one of 5 that were "caught" within the first 15 minutes. All but 2 were "catch and release". The 2 were an ornate wrasse that we had incorrected sexed and ended up with 2 males in the same tank (not good) and the other being the first of several engineer gobies that were being trapped out (they showed signs of aggression towards our other new wrasses, including our new lineatus... so obviously they had to go
).
