custom tank help

I'm looking for some guidance in building a custom tank. The dimensions would be 72 long, 25 deep and 30 tall. I have built a few sumps and smaller tanks, but for something this large I was hoping to get some opinion on glass thickness. From what i can find with tank calculators, most are saying 1/2 inch glass, one said 3/4 glass. I'm thinking 1/2 inch glass should do it, but what about the bottom piece? can that also be 1/2 inch, or should it be 5/8" or 3/4"?

Thanks in advance.

FWIW I had my 230g 72x24x31high (eurobraced) built by Miracles 3 years ago. I was assuming I could go with 1/2 inch glass. Since it was going to be a reef with wave makers Derek said we need to go with 3/4 inch.

1/2” glass would be fine but you will need to brace the tank. If you really want to be safe without questions, go 3/4” on all panels with a 3/4” euro bracing and your solid. With that much water volume, I rather be safe then sorry.

I'd give glass cages a call. They'll talk you through what they'd recommend for dimensions. They also have fairly reasonable pricing on glass and acrylic. I'd personally recommend 3/4" on all sides just to be safe.
