Cut PVC in Sand bed filled In

I'm cutting pvc pipe into small sections to stack my rock up on, to keep it off the glass bottom (among other reasons).
Will bad things happen if they (the cut pipe pieces), fill in with the aragonite I'm also putting down on the bottom? ?

Does anybody know if this matters or not? It won't create hot spots will it? I'm ready to scape my tank and don't want to mess up on something so basic as the sand bed.

I also used small pvs pipe to stack my rock on when I first set up my tank. It will (or can) create an anerobic area if that's what you want.

Actually, I just tore down my tank and pulled the PVC out last weekend because it wasn't working out like I had envisioned. I just put a small layer of sand in the tank, thenplaced the bottom layer of rock in and presses and "wiggled" it till it was touching the bottom of the tank then stacked the rest.

i like it much better that way (for what it's worth)

I have always thought that the pvc stands become a accident waiting to happen. If you have suffiecent flow, you should not worry about dead spots created by the rocks sitting directly on the sand. But then again, this is just my opinion.

I'm not worried about the rock touching the sand but...I am fearful of it sitting on the glass! I was gonna put in lots of cut pipe rings, set my rocks up, and remove any pipe that the rocks didn't rest on. Then I was gonna back fill with sand.

That'd work fine. Good luck!

Well I put mine in and filled with sand.....they are already out!
They slid around even with the sand. I'd rather take the chance of having to clean up around the rock base than let them sit on these water slides....you were right-lesson learned :hmm5:
