Cycle algae blooms

Hello all,
I am 1 month into my setup and i am in the expected hair algae bloom. Was just wondering do i leave this to run its course or should i be doing any additional maintainance to help out? I have passed the brown diatom bloom which occured and cleared in a total of 1 week. How long should the hair bloom remain before i get concerned?

Cheers.

You may not even get a hair algea bloom. I never did on any of my tanks. As long you don't have any nutrients in your tank for it to feed on, it may not come. (keep your fingers crossed!)

BUT...if/when you do a hair algea bloom, hermit crabs, and a variety of snails will help out.

If if gets REALY out of control (knock on wood) then you can try puling it out by hand, syphoning it out, and lots of good water changes using RO/DI water.

Good luck!

I agree with Michelle. When you get GHA just keep your nutrients low and get a cleanup crew. It should pass too. Here is an article you may find useful.
