Cycle Walt smith 2.1 in tank?

I'm setting up my first tank and was wondering if I should cure my Walt smith separately or in tank and just do aggressive water changes. I'm in no rush.

BRS recommends curing the rock but I imagine it takes less to cure this man made rock.

I have to cycle the tank anyways so should I just do it with rock in place?

I am cycling mine with the tank at the same time. However I am curing Pukani in a tub just bc of how dirty it can be.

You should be fine doing them together

Eric just curious how the Walt Smith rock cured for you in the tank as I am considering doing the same.

I'm very curious what BRS means by saying you need to cure the dry Walt Smith rock. "Curing" usually refers to what you may choose to do to deal with die-off on live rock -- not sure what it means for dry, artificial rock.

The pukani wasn't that bad at all. It took about a month to fully cure but i didnt do anything special other than stick it in a bucket with a pump and heater. I did a water change about 2 weeks through and then when all parameters stabilized i put in my DT. I had no phosphate issues or algae issues. I have yet to see any reason why you should do anymore than that from my experience.

I have Walt smith rock. There is no curing it. It is free of mess. It just needs time to become live rock.
