Cycling and low pH

I have just started a new 28 nano cube. I have added live rock and dry rock. I am now letting everything do it's think and cycle. I have tested the water and everything is perfect except the pH. It's VERY low: 7.0. I'm not sure what step(s) I should take before I introduce a living creature. Looking for knowledge!

Little things like room ventilation and ensuring your water gets agitated enough could help. [emoji106]

How long have you been cycling? Many of my perameters were out of whack for a while. I would just make sure your salinity and temperature is in spec for now as well as atleast a powerhead running. Consider running your skimmer for aeration. I wouldn't be concerned until towards the end of your cycle.

It's only been a week. I guess I should just be patient...:spin3: Will the pH increase with the cycling process?

pH can't be 7.0. How are you testing it?

In general don't worry about pH anyway. Test for alk, s.g., temp. Test for NH3, NO2, during cycle.

When I cycled my tanks the pH was lower (7.8ish) due to the decay increasing Co2 saturation, thus bringing down the pH. Give your cycle some time to complete and then re test. 7.0 is very low. And per the usual I would agree with Mcgyvr on his assessment, however, don't be concerned if your pH is lower during the cycle and...don't throw away your pH tester I think that is an all too common comment around here. pH is quick and easy to test and the difference between 8 and 8.3 can make a noticeable impact on the rate at which your corals - especially stony - grow. Give it some time and see what happens!

Some of the most successful reefers have PH ranges from 7.5-8.2 with most being in the uppers 7's for a good chunk of the day..
Don't think because yours is 7.8 that there is a problem at all..
You can have a very successful tank with a ph range in the high 7's at all times..
