Cyphastrea Meteor Shower and other corals

I have Cyphastrea that has taken over a frag rack due to laziness and not knowing what to do with it. I had planned on keeping it on a rock that now has a branching hammer coral on it. Will it grow up the on the hammer coral and kill it?

I read several people saying using them on the base of other corals does not work. I don't have any rocks that don't touch each other than the hammer coral rock Any suggestions on what to do with it? Also, will vinegar bath get rid of it on the frag rack?

I love the look of it but it seems to grow very fast and it completely covered the frag rack, top and bottom of it. Don't think I will buy anymore encrusting corals.

I know this is an old thread but curious if you ever got an answer to your question. I was searching about this and this is the same question I have about Cyphastrea. I placed one meteor shower frag behind a toadstool leather frag. and wonder if it spreads to the base of the toadstool will that kill it or stunt the growth of the leather.

Actually I think the leather may attack the cyphastrea if it gets to close.
If threatened, if can send out turpins, a form of chemical ware fare, while cyphastrea is fast, it's not agressive, well, other than being a real fast spreader, and maybe that's agressive.

I have the same happening now, still about and inch from a toadstool. Just watching to see what takes place....

It might just grow right around the base of the Toadstool without any problems. FWIW I've got a Mycedium that's basically growing up the stalk of my Toadstool and they seem to get along fine. There's also a Montipora capricornis that comes into contact with the Toadstool on occasion too and nobody seems to complain.
If you want to try and contain the Cyphastrea though just smother the tissue with some epoxy. Piece of cake.
