daisy polyps

My mom saw these at the LFS and really wanted them. I got home and found out they are the same as pipe organs, I need care on these guys, as though I have not yet gotten them I really want them. the tank is going to be a mixed reef, 29 gallons, 65 watts PC(to be upgraded in a few months), set up for 3-4 weeks, not dosing anything as I am not testing anything. Is it an okay set up?

There are a couple different types of "daisy polyps". If the "petals" are feathery and have a tall firm base they are Cornularia. If the polyps are soft and not feathered they are Arcotossa. Both like strong light and good water movement. As far as the age of your system goes, you're on the borderline. You really ought to test your water to see how your nitrite/nitrate situation is doing before you add corals.

I have Clove Polyps (purple daisy polyps w/ neon green mouths) in a 10 gallon nano and they are doing great. Appx. two watts per gallon is a bit low for them but if you keep them at the top, they should do just fine. Since you don't have 3+ watts/gallon, I would recommend that you supplement them with phyto plankton. (They grow very fast!)

Before you buy them, make sure your parameters are in check!

Are they like these?

I have them at the bottom with low/med flow

seapug, as far as I can read the tests are 0 for everthing. Tank has been set up just over 3 weeks. I have added livestock and will test again tomarow. The polyps are the Cornularia variety, I am pretty sure. I cant seem to ind the info on them on the net.

Anthillia is a weed and can take over in a hurry. I keep it in my sump because it was one of my first corals ever purchased. Try keeping it on a isolated rock so it does not get out of hand.

yeah, thats a link to Xenia-- very different from "daisy polyps". Some Xenia are pretty, tidy and compact. Others are ugly brown and spread like algae for some people (like the one I *had*). Then again, there are others who can't keep Xenia alive for a week. Dc909's are Arcotossa-- a good one (I have that one too!).
