Damaged/Used PH Probe

I just received an American Marine PH probe that has a white substance around the bottom. It looks like salt creep, but I can't tell.

I've attached a few pictures of the probe.

Could the probe be damaged (cold weaher?)? Are the probes tested, so the salt creep is normal?

This is my first PH probe, I bought the controller used from someone here on RC. I'm not sure what to expect.

I'll wait for a response before trying it with my PH controller.

That's normal, mine came like this too. Nothing to worry about.

Hi,

Yes, that is normal. That has a protective cap on it filled with a fluid to keep the probe wet. So you will want to remove that cap and rinse the probe before using.
