Dark spots on new firefish

Bought a firefish a few days ago, I have yet to see it eat and it spends most of its days hiding. Today it finally came out but I see two brownish spots on its body. can someone identity? image.jpg sorry if it's blurry. Should I treat for anything

Having a tank just over two months old could raise some questions beyond normal acclimating to a new environment. Any ammonia, nitrate, etc.... in the tank?

Are they like sores, or is the color under the skin?
Firefish are almost translucent, so on mine you can see their gills a little bit through their white parts. It doesn't look anything like that though, might want to google Uronema marinum and see if the pics match. If you don't get good image results try "chromis Uronema" they get it a lot and it's easy to see against their blue flesh.

Do you have any corals in your tank? If so, sometimes when a fish brushes up against certain ones it will leave a blemish like that. There's a name for this, but I can't remember what it is right now.

Woke up to find the firefish dead. Thx for reply guys. I may contribute it to my tank being 2+ months old. I'll wait another month and re-assess. I will point out however the LFS puts their fish in 1.020 salinity vs my 1.026. I am thinking how I can make the acclimation less stressful. I have a spare 5g tank. Should I match salinity with the LFS and gradually up the salinity in a period of a few weeks?..

edit: i have about 8 soft corals, 2 clowns, 1 yellow goby, some inverts.

You should always match QT to the salinity in the bag, not the other way around. If the bag is 1.020 set your QT at that. Then all you gotta do is let evaporation take effect to raise the salinity.

Ooh I really like that idea stinger.

Currently my 5G "QT" has 7lbs of live rock (2 months old) with a power head and heater. It was originally meant to raise come copepods so it has about 300 in it. I ran a few tests:

Amonia: 0
Nitrate: 20-25

After I match the salinity, can I start acclimating into the QT right away? I plan on adding a firefish & chromis at same time. This tank does not have a skimmer or pump. Just power head & heater. Thoughts? Thanks!

in addition to drip acclimation, don't be afraid to give them a fresh water drip. take some RODI water with a bubbler and place the fish in the freshwater RODI water for a few minutes. This will help kill off any parasites that may be ON their body. I emphasize ON and not in.
