Back in the late 70's and early 80's I recall having a dietamatious earth filter (DE), in my arsenal to fight ich. I dont recall the specifics tho. It was a pain in the neck to set up i can remember that, and deadly if not handeled and used properly. but it also made the water perfectly crystal clear. When Im out checking out lfs, i do see the boxes of de filter powder on the shelves, as thos they've been there for a long time. Ive been wondering, as with the under gravel filters, has this weapon been pretty much replaced with the inexpensive refractometers available today?
