Dead chalice coral?

I just did a 25% water change yesterday and returned today to what I think is a dead chalice coral. I matched all of the params of the new water to the tank water but what was yesterday a deep bright red chalice is now a really faded orange and whitish chalice.

I'm wondering if I didn't test right and maybe the water wasn't matched properly and thats what did it. I have no pics but how do I know for sure if it actually died and didn't just expel its zooanthelae resulting in the loss of color?

I cannot take the coral out of the tank as it is glued to the rock so thats out of the question.

If it helps I also have some torch, frogspawn, lobo's, and a few other lps and softies all of which are doing fine and seem to have suffered no ill effects from the wc so I'm really not thinking that is it. In the past wc's have not affected this coral but now I'm stumped. Thanks for the help guys.

What was the temperature of the water you did the water change with. It might of been hotter or colder resulting in the coral to stress and bleach out. Is there flesh left on the coral or is it skeleton. If you can still see flesh the coral should return in time to it's glory. Good luck.

The temp was matched. It seems to me that I can still see flesh but to me a chalice doesn't really seem to be "fleshy". Thanks for the reply. I will just have to keep an eye on it.
