Dead Coral

This coral unfortunately has died due to some issues I had with the tank (prob my fav piece). The question is should I remove it? Is the decay and nutrients being released causing the algae bloom I'm having?

It's been in there for more than a month. All the colour is gone. No recognizable polyps (used to be bright purple with brilliant yellow polyps). One of my fastest growers. Flesh is all peeling off. Just really want to know if it is causing other problems....

Did it smell bad when you took it out? If so, it was probably linked to the algae bloom. Too bad you lost it. Any ideas why?

Smell was off but not too bad. I know exactly why I lost this (my fav) as well as most of my sps. Too many changes at once. New powerheads with increased flow, and WAY WAY too aggressive addition of gfo. Started with half recommended dose (brs) but changed it every 3 days (in brs reactor) increasing to full strength in a month. Got rid of all algae and my sps.
