I got a long nose hawkfish from my LFS 3 days ago. Had him in QT for a day and he was looking great - eating well with no signs of stress or disease. Over the next 2 days I added cupramine, slowly rising the copper level to 0.3~0.4 with 3 separate doses. It continued to eat well and look good. This morning the fish was looking fine. This afternoon when I came home from work it was dead.
There were no visible signs of disease on the fish, and the other fish in QT appear to be doing fine (a PJ cardinal and 2 fire fish). NH4 level is 0.
Has anyone heard of hawkfish being especially sensitive to cupramine? I don't recall ever seeing anything about it, but it seems odd that it was doing so well and then just up and croaked.
