Declining zoas - phosguard?

I've noticed a steady decline in the two zoa and palys colonies that I have in my tank. Polyps disappearing, and the remaining ones not opening fully. I've not been able to see any predators or pox. As an experiment, I placed the zoa colony on a frag rack slightly higher up in the tank. There has been no change that I can see in the last 7 days. I briefly ran phosguard (the aluminum base) in a reactor right around 6 months ago, before switching to GFO. While working in my sump yesterday, I saw a small clump of the old phosguard that had obviously spilled out of the reactor many months ago. Is there any possibility that this small amount of phosguard sitting in the sump could be causing an issue with the zoas and palys?
A large Sarcophyton, along with some LPS and SPS have been doing fine throughout this time.

If those were really the only changes...
Best bet is to remove the clump of the old phosguard first.
If that doesn't work, remove the GFO.
That way you'll see.

I use phosgaurd in my tank and have not noticed the zoas I have decline or not open up because of it. The mushrooms I have in the tank definitely do not like it. They dont open up as big as when I was using gfo. None have died off because of it though.

Well, some other people said that their SPS bleached and died after adding some GFO in their sump.
Go figure...
Better not to use at all, don't you think?
That's why I suggest a GFO (generally speaking) free system for all.
Do we really need the GFO? If you would like to try just let us know...
That would be ok... :)

I am not running phosguard but I run a phosphate remover on both my tanks, especially the zoa tank and have not seen any negative results..
