Deltec AP701 - Gravity Feed - Water Throughput

Hi All,

I've bought a Deltec AP701 second hand, for my new 150 gal setup (also second hand).

I've plumbed up the Deltec for gravity feed from the display tank.

I am wondering, how do I know I've got the correct / appropraite amount of water throughput? I know I can adjust the level in the skimmer using the deltec gate valve on the skimmer outlet - that's no problem; I just want to know how to verify the correct volume of water going through the skimmer.

As a note aside - there's about 60 kg of LR in there. It smells cured, and is visibly quite clean although there are little chunks of sponges dropping off it ..... with the skimmer set as per the instructions and with the airvalve fully open I am getting zero skimmate - the bubles (which are quite large) are barely rising 2" into the riser tube. I feel like I would get a bit more "rise" out of it, hence I wonder if the throughput is correct?

Cheers,

Measure the thru put for one minute with a bucket and multiply by 60. Compare to recommended feed gph from Deltec.

The skimmer will take a couple of days to break in and start actually skimming.
