derasa lighting

I have become the keeper of a tiger derasa about the size of a football. There was a fire and the tank he was in is no longer. So this stork "firefighter" brings the clam to my office. He is in a 65 gallon (170gallon total water) and is under a 175w MH. Reading that they like the sand bottom, is it enough lighting for him with only the 175w to be on the bottom. Right now he is perched about halfway up. I have room on the sand bed for him if there is enough lighting

really not sure, the whole building that the tank was in is in ashes right now. The clam is opened faily wide and the mantle is extended. He looks happy, well now that I pulled all of the peppermint shrimp out that were nipping. The other tankmates that were saved have been spred out over the house.

Im assuming that open is good and not trying to get more lighting

ok i see now. try not to make any changes to the water, keep everything as stable as you can. a lot of things could have happened/gotten into the tank

I keep my 2.5" blue rimmed derasa on the bottom of my tank (about 17 inches from bulb center). He gets 175 watt, 10K, MH right under the bulb "hot spot". He's as happy as a clam.
