Derasa troubles

I'm having a little trouble getting my derasa clam to stay put! Some mornings when I first look at the tank the clam is on its side several inches away from where I've placed it. I have seen one of my turbos on the clam before but never actually move it! All this disturbance is preventing it from putting a foot down into the substrate. Any ideas?

The reason why your clam is moving probably isn't from anything in the tank moving it. If the clam dosn't like the current place/position it is in, it can move itself by pumping or squirting water out its "tube". Mine does this every time I move it to clean the glass, after a day it's right back where it was before next to the glass.

Hmm, I didn't know they could do that !! I guess they don't mid the disturbance then? If mine doesn't like where it is I suppose I should move it somewhere it might prefer, but the only places I have are on the sand where it is now, or higher up on a rock which is quite unnatural for a derasa.

I guess yours doesn't mind the disturbance then? Mine always opens right back up again within a few minutes of being messed around with.

Kinda funny with clams. They will move around on you until they are happy. Mine lined up with the lights. I am probably mistaken, but aren't Deresa's lower light clams? If it is on the sandbed that is more than likely why.
