Derasa under PCs?

I was wondering if a derasa clam would live under a PC (130w) unit without any complications in a 26 gallon. Obviously, this clam would be placed as close as possible to the top. I have a friend that is interested in one of my 4" derasas. I know these clams are extremely hardy, but i was just wondering if they are hards enough for PCs.

Thanks,
Xander

I was reading an older reef keeping book and it made mention to keeping a derasa under PC lighting. The author said that it could be done, but to increase the phtoperiod to 10 hours.

James Fatherree book states that a dersa could easily be kept under PC's. Just make sure that the bulbs are changed every 6 mounths. I biggest worry would be keeping the aquarium stable in such a small tank. I was able to grow a squamosa under PC's in a JBJ 12gal, but I was very carful with my suppliments and temp. It is now in my 50gal and growing much quicker.

I would not suggest it. Clams need intense lights- pcs do not provide it. just my opinion.

By the way, I wouldn't necessarily consider clams as extermely hardy- this almost implies they can tolerate sub-optimal conditions. In my experinece, their requirements are not difficult to provide, but in their absence, clams can fail quickly.
