Detritus removal?

Hello,
I am using a filter sock and a protein skimmer. My question is does detritus get through the filter sock? I wonder if the skimmer is getting it out or if its the sock. The sock is 100 microns.

i'm no expert, but in my opinion/experience, the sock will grab the larger particles, and the skimmer gets what is small enough to pass through.

It collects in my sump underneath my skimmer which is raised up with pvc. I can't get to it without breaking the whole sump down.

suck it up.

Huh? That really doesn't help since he mentioned he can't get to it without breaking down that section of the sump. Um.. try again with some advice? :strooper:

Seems like many posters are eager to share advice, but don't read the whole thread.

feed a piece of tubing in there and attach it to the input of a powerhead. have the output of the powerhead shoot into a filter sock. then, just move the hose around and suck it all up. you couldn't possibly have less room than me and that's what i do. length wise, you can't even slide a piece of paper between my skimmer and the sump wall.
