Devil's hand being a devil

Ever since I put a Devil's hand into my tank, my finger leather hasn't been happy. My clove polyp coral seems to do fine except when the devil's hand shrinks and builds up a waxy layer and starts shedding. When that happens, the clove polyps close up. It seems the devil's hand is going through this cycle almost weekly. My finger leather has not fully extended since the introduction of the devil. I put in new carbon and have the skimmer running. Any advice? Would moving the devil down current help? I have a 60 gallon cube. Parameters are normal. No Nitrates or phosphates, PH 8.2 Alk around 10 KH.
temp 77 to 78.
Red mushrooms are expanded, all the inverts are busy. My two fish are doing fine.

Place it in a high water flow area.

get rid of the 24/7 carbon. ive noticed when i run mine it makes the devil mad. and bring your alk down closer to 7-9.mine seem to like low-med flow. if i place in higher flow areas it doesn't get polyp extension.

that might help the devil adjust and might make your other leathers happier.
