Devil's Hand Leather Question

I just found a finger from my leather coral lying in the sand. The leather looks fine, but it's minus one finger now. Is this normal?

I would say yes it is ok as long as you do not see any dead or rotting flesh from the area where the finger fell off. I have had mine for a year and a half now and it has only done this once and the finger that came off grew into its own coral, which I was able to give to a friend and is very healthy and happy.
